Goanership!!!!

We took the leap... we are now practitioners of GOAT HUSBANDRY!! Rick and our neighbor, Jake, went to Clatskanie this evening to pick up the newest members of our respective families. Jake and Michelle adopted a male (now named Jasper), and we adopted his sister, who we have named NumNum. We have named her NumNum because that is the only word Ruary knows how to say. And who wouldn't love calling a goat NumNum? Especially a little white pygmy goat with brown spots on her head and chest? Our girly is the one on the left. Rick said the ride home was a little noisy, as there was much goat-protest from the back of the pickup canopy. But all is well, except that the old goat on the hill, Buddy, has to share his goat-hut and he's not particularly happy about this development. He will adjust... the little goats are following him around like a daddy, it's pretty cute.

We now have a herd! Our little hill co-op is thinking that the next move is to get some chickens. Mmmmm, fresh eggs.

Totally for blackberry vine duty. And for mowing the lawn. AND for cuteness.

OK. This is not what we had in mind when you said you were talking about having another kid.

She is cute. Can't wait to meet Numnum.

It was with great sadness that Jim and Vera had to part with their goat family, Fritz, Guapo, and Ruthie. Unfortunately, they got through the fence and into the graveyard to eat the flowers one too many times and the police department threatened a fine...

Anyway, I find goats to make excellent, useful pets. They're "goatally" cool.
